Application Checklist

1. You have registered with the Premedical & Predental Office online.
2. You have asked at least three people to write letters of recommendation on your behalf and to forward them to this office. At least two of the references are from University of Connecticut professors from science courses. Letters can be from people, or supervisors, you have worked with off campus. You are strongly encouraged to obtain letters from doctors or dentists.
3. You have registered to take the MCAT or DAT exam. Links to both exams can be found through this web site.
4. You have sent Dr. Crivello your AMCAS or AADSAS ID number.
5. You have sent Dr. Crivello your final list of medical schools. The final list must be emailed to him!!!!
If you are applying to dental school then the composite letter goes to the AADSAS office in Washington, which than sends it to your dental school choices.
6. Dr. Crivello will not send out your letters until you have asked him to do so. It is not his responsibility to remind you that the composite letter has not been sent out while you are waiting for letters of recommendation to be sent to this office - that is your responsibility.
7. Dr. Crivello will contact you after your letters have been mailed out. Since so many students apply to medical and dental school each year (around 100), Dr. Crivello will limit the number of letters he mails out on your behalf to 25 medical schools. If you are not competitive at 25 schools you will not be competitive at 50. It is unfair to the other students to ask that so many letters be sent out on your behalf. This just takes time and resources away from other students applying.
8. It is your responsibility to contact medical and dental schools to ask if your letters have been received and your file is complete!
9. A key aspect of the application process is when you apply. This office urges you in the strongest possible terms to apply for both medical and dental school by late July of the year prior to your matriculation date. Both types of schools use a rolling admission process and you may be competitive in September but not in January. This office remains open all summer.
